[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Clarence Stanfield (@clarence_stanfield), a Strength & Conditioning Coach at CUT SEVEN and Life Time.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Clarence Stanfield: I currently train at CUT SEVEN, Life Time, and The Conditioning Room.
WDC: What does wellness mean to you?
CS: Wellness is a holistic focus on how you approach your health, encompassing movement, nutrition, rest, and self-connection. It’s about loving and valuing each aspect equally because they all work together.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
CS: One specific goal I started was stretching for 30 minutes every night before I sleep. In Western civilization, and especially as fitness enthusiasts, we chronically deprive our bodies of sleep and rest. By stretching, I allow my sympathetic nervous system to calm down and release the tension that has accumulated throughout the day. This enables the body to recover and achieve proper rest
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
CS: Many people contribute to my overall wellness. Team leaders Mona Garcia (@monalavinia) and Javier (@____javi___) constantly bring the motivation to get up and bring your “A game” on the track. My Hyrox partner-in-crime Shane Rogers (@rogers.sk), and my brother, Mike Roundtree (@miketree20) motivate me all the time with how we compete in any circumstance. My brother Zay (@brolicbyzay) always reminds each of us to be ourselves and get after it. Mike Savitch (@mikesavitch) is the one person that always motivates me to become a better trainer and fitness pillar in any circumstance! I can always learn something new from Mike. CUT SEVEN owners Chris Perrin (@chrisperrin7) and Alex Perrin (@alex.perrin7) constantly show me accountability is important in this field, especially when it comes to family. We bend, but we don’t break.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
CS: Start with the things you can control. Set goals, create plans to achieve your goals that help keep you motivated and accountable. Make small changes to your diet and your physical activity, then focus on balance and consistency. Finally, develop a routine! Drinking water, exercising, prayer or meditating, and getting enough sleep. These changes make a world of a difference.
