[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Rachel Martell (@rachelmartell), a fitness coach at MADabolic DMV, a photographer, and the Assistant Director of Nursing in the NICU at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?

Rachel Martell: When I am not at the hospital or in a helicopter, you can find me at MADabolic DMV or FLEX DMV. I also enjoy throwing hands with some of my favorite boxing coaches: Eric Buckner (@enigmaboxing), Dawson Saint jour (@thatsaintlife), Antonio (@_nevergiveupboxing_) and Branden Allen (@_b_allen).

WDC: What does wellness mean to you?

RM: Wellness to me is optimizing your health. Not only physically, but mentally and spiritually, as well. Movement is healing, nutrition is healing, and what you feed your mind can be healing, as well. Intentionality in all areas is the key to finding balance.

WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

RM: Nothing profound for me. I just desire to continue to hold gratitude for the way my body is able to move and to keep striving to be my healthiest self both inside and out.

WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

RM: My family and friends keep me accountable in all areas of my life. I am so grateful for my circle! I am continually inspired by others who have a hunger to constantly better themselves like Salu Gbla (@salu_gbla), Matt Moosavian (@mattmoosavian), Clarence Stanfield (@clarence_stanfield), Mona Garcia (@monalavinia), Fatima Kamara (@fittima_fitness), and Glenn Rogers (@big_g_rogers)

WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

RM: Start small. Slowly changing one habit at a time will allow sustainability and seem less daunting.
