[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Christina Hong (@consciously.christina), a yoga teacher, retreat leader, and ceremonialist.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Christina Hong: My true love is hot yoga. I teach and practice at PureFire Yoga Studio in Bethesda, MD and at Rising Sol Yoga School in Alexandria, VA. I'm blessed to be working with such incredible communities filled with amazing humans that inspire, support, and grow together. I complement yoga with strength training and rehab PT over at Kaizo Health with Matt Anazalone (@mattanzalone.cpt) as I work through various injuries. When I'm not on the mat, you can find me all over the DMV exploring hiking trails and soaking up the outdoors with my dog Peanut.
WDC: What does wellness mean to you?
CH: Holistic and interconnected health that goes beyond just the physical body and mind. I don't think healing and wellness is a static state to achieve and check off our to-do lists as one and done. It's constant and should examine the fluctuations of your spiritual/subtle body, the communities and spaces you engage in, and the environments you are a part of. To be truly well is to be continuously curious and inquisitive as we practice this awareness of our inner and outer workings and how they do a balancing act with each other. We can do all the things (endless classes, supplements, programs, etc.), but if they aren't integrated into other aspects of our lives, are we really living well, or have we just fallen into commercialized wellness?
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
CH: I'm excited to continue inviting partnerships with brands and local collaborators - we can do this work alone, but it's so much more impactful and long lasting with community. In the pipeline are more offerings for restorative yoga and ceremonial cacao - this pairing together gives deep rest and incredible benefits on the mind, body, and spirit. We can tap in together at the Interfusion Festival in January 2025 or during our moon circles over at YANA Wellness and Creative Center every month. I'm also pumped to offer deeper containers where people travel together on retreat and remember to return home to themselves - international wellness retreats are on the horizon next year!
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
CH: My friends and family for sure. To name a few specifically - Brian Paris (@drbrianparis) and Kayla Felten over at Reclamation Collective.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
CH: What's something you could commit to for 30 days? 45 days? 90 days? Start small and easy to integrate into the routines you have for yourself. Stay curious, open, and notice the shifts. And remember to give yourself grace and compassion.

[REVIEW] We let out some steam at BASH Rosslyn this week with Coach Nicki (@nicki_calll) for their flagship class: boxing + strength training. Their slogan is “Boxing-inspired. Community focused.” — this definitely rings true. We were blown away by the tight-knit community that welcomed us with open arms. Not to mention the Moneybagg Yo vs. Future themed class kicked our ass! Shout out to their rockstar studio manager, Andria Winger (@anjthisanjthat), for setting us up.
