[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Katie DeLorenzo (@katie_delorenzo), an instructor at Crossfit Bethesda.

WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?

Katie DeLorenzo: I work out and coach at Crossfit Bethesda!

WDC: What does “wellness” mean to you?

KD: Wellness means that you truly feel like anything that comes your way is something that you can handle and that you’re able to regulate stress around harder situations. It’s crazy to me how much weightlifting has impacted how strong I feel mentally. It’s almost like if I can lift “x” amount, then I can definitely do “y.”

WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

KD: My friends know that my classic answer is "to get jacked," but it’s also to settle into my new-ish job while I keep finding ways to fit life around the gym.

WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

KD: Aubrey Ciatto (@breezy0818) for showing me that you can be a mom and be absolutely strong as shit. Jenna Koch (@jennakoch) for being my bestie and reminding me that sometimes it just do be like that. Jeremy Jarvis (@jeremyjarvis22) for believing in me, even when I am not believing in myself. Stephen Vassallo (@vassallostephen) for teaching me to do a rope climb, my first CrossFit movement which led me to compete. Eric Tolentino (@etolentino24) for helping me finally clean 180. Finally, George, my nine year old client who keeps me young.

WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

KD: Just start, anywhere. You may find yourself working with a few different gyms or workout types before you find something you love.
