[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Britt Daniels @prophetfitness.life, a Fit Life Coach, MyFitDC Ambassador, Lululemon Yoga Ambassador and RadioOneLife National Podcast Host and owner of Prophet Fitness.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Britt Daniels: You can typically find me working out at Vida Fitness Navy Yard @vidafitnessdc. But when I have time in my busy schedule, I treat myself to my favorite fitness space which is DMV Iron Gym in Falls Church @DMV_Iron_gym. The equipment and energy there is out of this world.
WDC: What does “wellness” mean to you?
BD: Wellness means mind, body, and community/social connection because true well-being requires a holistic approach: mental health supports emotional stability and clear thinking, physical health ensures our bodies function optimally through proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep, and social health fosters strong relationships and a support network, enhancing our sense of belonging and emotional resilience.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next 12 months?
BD: As an entrepreneur, my primary wellness goal for the next 12 months is to achieve a better work-life balance and ensure I get sufficient rest. This includes deepening my yoga and meditation practice. Many wellness coaches can fall into the trap of constantly being on the go, which can lead to burnout. I aim to adopt a more balanced lifestyle to avoid this.
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you?
BD: My biggest inspirations and sources of accountability are my life partner Shalynn Burrill, @pilatesbyshay, who is also a fitness coach and pilates instructor. I also find daily inspiration from my mentors Gym Jonez @gymjonez and Monica Jones @trainwithmon - two of the biggest names in fitness.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
BD: For someone looking to change their wellness routine, I'd advise starting your day strong, as the first hour sets the tone for the rest of the day. Establish a morning routine that includes activities like exercise, meditation, or a healthy breakfast to boost your energy and mindset. Set clear boundaries with others to protect your time and focus, ensuring you're not overwhelmed by external demands. Have clarity with your goals by setting specific, achievable objectives for your wellness journey. Find sources of accountability, such as a workout buddy or a wellness coach, to keep you motivated and on track. Lastly, stay consistent, as regular, sustained efforts lead to lasting improvements in your wellness.
