[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Julia Duemler (@Julia_Duemler), a yoga instructor at Soulfire Collective Yoga.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Julia Duemler: I teach both power vinyasa and yin yoga at Soulfire Collective Yoga in Bethesda. I also love riding my Peloton and taking my pup on long walks.
WDC: What does “wellness” mean to you?
JD: Wellness to me is the balance of connecting mental, physical, and emotional well being. It’s how I speak to myself, how I push my body, and the support system I surround myself with. These three things need to be working together in harmony for me to feel my best. I feel in love with yoga because it allows me to improve all three of these areas.
WDC: What motivates you to take care of your wellness?
JD: I want to live the healthiest life I can so that I can show up 100% for those around me. To be around long enough to have the ability to make lasting memories with my loved ones. To be able to have children and watch them age well into their lives.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
JD: Practice intuitive eating and movement. Eating when my body tells me it’s hungry and not feeling shameful about it. Allowing my body to rest when it tells me to. Allowing myself to move and feel without fear of judgement. Surrounding myself with people who cheer me on instead of tear me down.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
JD: Meet yourself exactly where you are. We’re all at different stages of this journey: one isn’t better, and one isn’t worse. You are whole, complete, and worthy exactly how you showed up.
