[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Nas Elizabeth (@nasreen.elizabeth), a DC area cycle instructor, fitness and wellness trainer, and certified breathwork instructor.

WellcommDC: What does “wellness” mean to you?

Nas Elizabeth: Wellness to me is the journey of finding our own beautiful balance of daily choices that nourish the soul, mind, and body. Ultimately, wellness reconnects us with ourselves at the highest level.

WDC: What motivates you to take care of your wellness?

NE: Simple: life is so much more fun when you do.

WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

NE: Start small and follow the fun. Set short-term, attainable goals, and while you're working to reach them, celebrate yourself. Take the pressure off yourself and simply try new things. See what brings you joy—those things will tend to create a lifestyle change.

WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

NE: Deepen and expand my breathwork knowledge and practices. Reach a three minute plank hold :), and other than that, just stay consistent with my routine that includes my nutrition, strength training, and Pilates.

WDC: Where do you work…out?

NE: Depends on what we're working on :). Life Time Clarendon for strength training and HUSTLE for cycle.

[POP UPS] Did you attend the LINK x LOU Jewelry POP UP at Barry’s Dupont on Saturday? If you missed it, fear not: LINK x LOU has more coming to various fitness studios around town soon. [Red Room Bling]

[EXPERT] Looking to elevate your running routine and skip the injuries? Luckily, ultrarunner Jesse Fuller (@fullerrunsfar) calls Washington, DC home. [Don’t hurt yourself]

[COMMUNITY] We’re following Bradi Krytusa (@brandikrytusa), one of the founding coaches of BASH Boxing. [Knockout workout]

[IN-PERSON] Last week, we crushed the Hip Hop Hump Day 7:15 am class at the 14th Street SoulCycle with the OG Jared Keith Lee (@jaredkeithlee). The Wydown Coffee Bar across the street opens before class starts, if you need an espresso before you mix sprints, tap backs, and Nikki Minaj tracks. [Go double-tap that]
