[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Yasmine Reed (@yazzyreed), the owner and operator of The Method Room, a reformer studio located in Dupont Circle.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Yasmine Reed: I own and operate Method Room, a reformer studio located in Dupont Circle. You can visit our website at www.themethodroom.com.
Our TMR method is at the core of my workout routine, helping me build strength and muscular endurance while prioritizing joint protection—a key focus after experiencing ACL tears. I teach classes on Mondays at 12 pm, and Wednesdays at 10 am and 12 pm. If you're thinking about trying it out, all our classes are beginner-friendly, and our incredible team of instructors is ready to support you every step of the way.
WDC: What does wellness mean to you?
YR: To me, wellness is all about balance and intentional living. It’s a holistic approach that encompasses not only physical health but also mental and emotional well-being. Living "well" means caring for my body, nurturing my mind, and living with purpose. It's about intentionally building habits that align with the life I want to lead. Balance is essential because, while staying active and working hard are important, it’s equally crucial to rest and cultivate stillness, which support and restore the parasympathetic nervous system. Wellness is about creating harmony between action and rest, body and mind.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
YR: My wellness goals for the next 12 months focus on refining my diet and being intentional about how I fuel my body. I love food—whether it’s healthy, indulgent, or somewhere in between! I want to prioritize nutrient-dense choices and adopt a more mindful, conscious approach to eating. This means becoming more aware of what I’m consuming and making choices that support my overall health and well-being.
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
YR: I'm always inspired and motivated by people who do good without expecting anything in return. I am so grateful for my incredible team at Method Room because they truly embody this. Seeing them pour their hearts into our shared vision of building a welcoming community that offers an exceptional workout experience fuels my passion every day. I especially want to recognize Jess Brown (@jessbrown211), my Director of Instructor Development. She’s not only a remarkable source of knowledge but also one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. Jess is a breath of fresh air—but will also kick your butt in class!
I also want to give a shout to Kam Khosh (@khoshmoney), one of my first friends in the DC fitness scene. His drive and accomplishments are truly inspiring—from launching Post Game to serving as a lead coach at Ambitious Athletics. Kam is a natural go-getter; no matter the obstacles, he works hard and accomplishes whatever he sets his mind to. He’s supported Method Room from day one and constantly helps me connect with like-minded individuals in the DC fitness community.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
YR: Start small and focus on consistency with just one habit. This steady approach builds confidence and lays a strong foundation for future growth. Taking on too much at once can often lead to burnout and disappointment. Personally, I find habit stacking very effective when incorporating something new into my routine. For example, if I want to start taking creatine daily, I’ll drink a glass of water with it right before brushing my teeth each morning. Over time, brushing my teeth becomes a natural reminder to take the creatine, making it easier to stick with the habit.
