[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Vaughn Williams (@__cvpo__), a trainer at Equinox and DC Fit at UnionMarket.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Vaughn Williams: Honestly, I workout wherever there's space and opportunity. Some of the best work I've gotten in since moving here has been with my boy @brolicbyzay. Seeing him train forced a creative side in my programming and personal sessions. Big ups to him.
WDC: What does “wellness” mean to you?
VW: Wellness is a lifestyle to me. Understanding that we've been given one body and wanting it to last as long and efficiently as possible. Don't get me wrong, I love to indulge in some extracurriculars that aren't too healthy, but I feel like I maintain a pretty good balance. Not to mention the emotional and mental side, too. I feel like that gets left out a lot and people only focus on their physical being.
WDC: What motivates you to take care of your wellness?
VW: Besides the cliche answer of seeing my kids grow and being active during that process, in the least vain way possible, I want to look/feel good for as long as I can. The body naturally starts to decline at a certain point, and I want to be ahead of that curve. Seeing people age and break down might be the most terrifying thing I've witnessed. So I'd like to prolong the inevitable.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
VW: I plan on getting back down below 11% body fat. Haven't been that low since I moved to the area three years ago. Getting lost in the fast life of the city and having a newborn has been a whirlwind. Locking back in and focusing on myself is definitely on the agenda for the next couple months. Definitely want to try some new things out, as well. Boxing, some mud runs, spartan races. Things of that nature.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
VW: Don't be afraid to try something different. I feel like people are so focused on a routine that they start to lose the drive of what got them started in the first place. Meeting people who are interested in different activities definitely helps. Just venture out of your comfort zone and be spontaneous.

[MORE ARL] Discover Arlington asked Arlington Fitness Fanatics to vote on their favorite fitness studios in town, and based on the votes, here are the winners. Read the post for the full descriptions, but the TL;DR is MADabolic, Barry’s, F45, and Orangetheory. [Fitness For The People]
[COMMUNITY] We’re following Marcus Lowe II (@marcusxlowe) because we want to get these GAINZ. [We Ready]
[CLASS REVIEW] We braved the ice and snow last week to visit SoulFire Collective’s new Arlington studio where one of the DMV’s most sought-after yoga classes is led by the amazing Whit Murray (@HiWhit). Due to Whit’s popularity, we recommend arriving early to secure your spot. Experience a unique blend of music and movement as Whit masterfully syncs the rhythm of the class with an invigorating soundtrack. Feel the energy rise as J. Cole (@realcoleworld) beats fuel your transition into Warrior Two, creating an exhilarating mix that enhances your practice. SoulFire Collective isn't just a workout: it's a journey of empowerment. [Namaste, Yogis]
