[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Fatima Kamara (@fittimaaa), a personal trainer in Washington, DC.

WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?

Fatima Kamara: I work out at Definition of Fitness on K Street and DMV Iron Gym. Both spaces feel like home and push me to be my best every time I step in.

WDC: What does wellness mean to you?

FK: To me, wellness is about moving my body freely without aches or pains, having a clear and sound mind, and living in alignment with my goals and values. It’s about feeling balanced, grounded, and capable, not just physically but mentally and emotionally too. It’s knowing I’m taking care of myself in a way that sets me up for long-term health and happiness.

WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

FK: This year is special because it marks my 30th birthday! My goal is to be in the best shape I’ve ever been—feeling and looking amazing not just for a moment, but consistently throughout the year. I want to be my best self in every way—mentally, physically, spiritually, and beyond. Turning 30 is a milestone, and I want to celebrate it by thriving in every aspect of my wellness journey.

WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

FK: My partner, David Cole (@definitiondof), who is also the owner of Definition of Fitness, inspires and supports me every day. He leads by example and constantly pushes me to level up. I also motivate myself. I believe it’s important to hold yourself accountable because no one else can do the work for you. It’s a team effort with myself, my partner, and the community around me.

WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

FK: First, give yourself grace during the tough moments of your wellness journey—progress isn’t always linear, and that’s okay. Second, allow yourself time to settle into a routine and reach a level of comfort before switching things up. Consistency is key, and small steps will lead to big changes over time.

[REVIEW] Not sure if the WellcommDC community has caught on to the AM rave + coffee trend, but that’s exactly the vibe Hustle Cycle + Strength gave us on Saturday AM. The 45-minute cycle class with Lindsay Bishop (@lindsay_bishop) was an electrifying start to the day—great music, high-energy vibes, and a community that showed up ready to move. From the moment we walked in, the Hustle team made us feel at home, helping us set up (thanks, Sunny Mae (@sunnymaeerryday) and hyping us up and not only do they have cycle classes, but Hustle offers stretch and strength classes - you can get everything you need from this studio. We found our new favorite way to wake up on a Saturday!
