[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Rachel Yep (@dcdimsumgirl), Co-Leader of Clarendon Run Club and a DC metro area lululemon ambassador.
WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Rachel Yep: I run or walk with Clarendon Run Club every Monday at 6:30 PM at the flower outside of Tatte! The other days, you can find me at Life Time right around the corner.
WDC: What does wellness mean to you?
RY: To me, wellness is more than just physical health. It's mental and emotional health, too: to take care of your body and mind and to have a good support system around you.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
RY: Over the next year, my wellness goals include committing to a workout routine, running a marathon with a healthy body, maintaining relationships with friends and family, and seeing a therapist regularly to take care of my mental health.
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
RY: There are so many people in my support system that keep me accountable to my wellness: my husband Jaren [Herald] (@jarebearher) who wakes up at 4:30 AM with me so I don't have to go to Life Time alone before work; my friend Gregg [Jerrez] (@gjerez758) who constantly gives words of affirmation while also holding me accountable to my goals; my friend Jenna [Hong] (@jennaxhong) who is always checking in on my emotional and mental health; and all of my friends at Clarendon Run Club who make running in the dark and cold easier!
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
RY: "Comparison is the thief of joy." Your wellness journey should not be the same as someone else's wellness journey. Start small and set specific, measurable, and achievable goals on a timeline that is realistic to follow.
