WellcommDC: Where do you work…out?
Caroline Ruckstuhl: So many great studios and communities to mention but some of my go-to’s this past year have been BASH Boxing .. duh, my incredible trainer Coach Dave Foreman (@davidthewise_fitness), SoulFire Collective Yoga, [solidcore], Happy Hour Athletics, Hodges Fitness, CUT SEVEN, BFT Tysons, and the infamous summer sweat series with lululemon Mosaic District.
WDC: What does wellness mean to you?
CR: Wellness, to me, is the harmonious balance of a happy mind, a joyful heart, and a healthy body. A happy mind is at ease—positive, challenged, and filled with gratitude. A joyful heart is at peace, in love with life and those around us. A healthy body is well-nourished, hydrated, rested, active, and cared for. Together, they create the full spectrum of mind, body, and spirit, where neglecting one inevitably impacts the others.
WDC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
CR: 2024 was a year of growth and significant loss, making 2025 a time to rebuild my wellness, embrace a new normal, and live my life to its fullest and happiest. Since late November, I’ve been working with Donnivien Bertram (@donnivien) on my physical and nutritional goals, and I’m already signed up for HYROX America DC with Alex Gomez (@__gomie) in March. I’m also looking forward to running another race in the new year.
WDC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
CR: Buckle up—this might take a while! My motivators and sources of inspiration, both near and far, include Alex Gomez (@__gomie), Alex Trakas (@lextrak13), Jorge Cardoza (@jocardz), Steph (@stephlinos), Kat Gacesa (@notkatg), Nick Friedl (@nickjfriedl), Ciara Miz (@ciaramiz), Nick Robbins (@nickrobbins201), Donnivien Bertram (@donnivien), Dave Foreman (@davidthewise_fitness), Andria Winger (@anjthisanjthat), Nicki @nicki_calll, Daniel Kain (@danielscottkain), Sam Khazi (@skhazai), Whit Murray (@hiwhit), Tran Truong (@tranxtruong), Gerald Hodges (@jyhodges), Teresa Hodges (@teresahodges_), Jordan Kulwicki (@coconutsjordan), Misha (@hangrymother), Kelly Combs (@freeyoursoulfit), Milli (@milikrem), Tana Bosshard (@tana.boss), Samantha Johannesen (@sam_Johannesen), Juan Marcano (@juanmrcn) and Chris Snyder (@vtcnicely) … just to name a few.
WDC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
CR: Besides stopping by to see me at BASH Boxing, find your community and discover what you love! Try ClassPass to explore a variety of studios until you find the one that feels like home—or join us for a lululemon community workout. It’s the perfect way to connect with amazing coaches and meet incredible people from all over the DMV. When you know, you know.
